TCK is founded in 1972 by Guido Schaffrath, initially as a repair service for strings on tennis rackets. In that time TCK was know as Tornado Sport Schaffrath en through the years the name changed to Lowa Benelux and Tornado Sport.
In 1987 the company develops by focussing more on importing and distributing sporting goods and less on retail activities. The shop closes and instead an office with a warehouse opens in Simpelveld (South of the Province of Limburg - The Netherlands). In 1989 TCK becomes official importer of the German brand Lowa - outdoor and specialty footwear. Allready in the first year, TCK sells 300 pairs of Lowa shoes in Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg.
Dirk starts his career at TCK in 1993 as the eldest son of founder Guido in the family business for starters to set up the automation of the ordering- and invoice process. Meanwhile also the brand portfolio keeps on expanding. TCK needs more 'room' and moves the office and warehouse to Heerlen, which is still the current location of TCK.
In the years 1997/1998 Dirk becomes General Manager and introduces the corporate company name ' TCK Sports Group' which represents both Lowa Benelux and Tornado Sport. Up till now Dirk keeps the meaning of the letters 'TCK' a secret.....but it most certainly that is has something to do with his history as a whizz kid, but the 'C' doesn't stand for computing...
In 2016 the number of employees hits 50, a new milestone. TCK Sports Group now belongs to the biggest independent distributors in sports and outdoor products. Always a head of the game in automation with tools like TCK OrderOnline, MediaOnline and an advanced CRM system. Also TCK provides dropshipments with a guarantee for next day delivery. Orders before 4 pm get delivered the next day.
As of 2019 Lowa becomes the key partner (sponsor) of the Vierdaagse Nijmegen, the biggest walking event in the world with participants from all nationalities. With Lowa, TCK can provide the Vierdaagse Nijmegen with all the knowledge they need about the perfect pair of shoes (and more) to succesfully finish ‘ the walk of the world’.
Products and needs in sports and outdoor keep on changing and developing. TCK keeps up with all the latest trends and developments. ICT, sales, marketing and new business are key departments in this. But also all other departments; administration, purchasing, customer service and warehousing keep on developing in knowledge and competences. This is the only way for TCK to remain relevant and succesfull for its clients, B2B as well as B2C. TCK is born ready, bring it on!
De markt blijft veranderen en TCK verandert mee. Met name ICT, sales, marketing en de nieuwe tak ‘New Business’ staan met de neus vooraan om alle ontwikkelingen op de voet te volgen en erop in te spelen. Maar ook alle andere teams; administratie, inkoop, customer service en de crew in het magazijn staan niet stil en optimaliseren voortdurend in kennis en kunde. Op deze manier slaagt TCK er keer op keer in om succesvol de markt te bewerken zowel B-to-B als B-to-C. TCK kijkt met open vizie de toekomst tegemoet!
