In 1948 the Lenhart family was already working with materials such as plastic and metal, and in 1970 the first LEKI Lenhart GmbH was a spin-off of the wood processing company founded by Karl Lenhart in 1948, which specialised in making lettering.
An avid skier, Karl Lenhart was however very dissatisfied with the quality and function of ski poles at the time. He started using his machines to develop ski pole handles and baskets. Having built experience in aircraft construction, Lenhart also knew how to process aluminium and composite materials. He produced his first ski poles from these raw materials and marketed them in 1970 under the brand name LEKI, which combines the first letters of the Lenhart family name and Kirchheim, the company's headquarters.
Nowadays, the name LEKI is synonymous with high-quality ski, trekking and trail running poles and gloves. Driven by a passion for top quality, the LEKI team spares no effort to create durable products with unparalleled properties. High performance combined with safety and comfort is at the core of LEKI's innovations. To guarantee the unique level of quality, the brand collaborates with experts and professional athletes during the development process. All these efforts result in smartly designed products that customers can enjoy for many years to come. Over 250 patents validate LEKI's level of innovation and quality.
