Blizzard was founded in 1945 by Anton Arnsteiner, as he returned home to Austria from World War II, in the family joinery workshop and started making skis besides wooden furniture.

In 1954, Blizzard became the first manufacturer to mass-produce polyethylene ski bases. In 1980, Blizzard introduced the Thermoski, a world first. Today, the factory in Mittersill, where all products are designed and manufactured, is the international headquarters of Blizzard Sport GmbH. Blizzard is an independent ski brand and part of the Tecnica Group.
